Harold U, “Hal” Johnson, Jr., was born in Southern New Jersey; a remote part of New Jersey that still lives up to and deserves the moniker of the “garden part” of the Garden State. He then attended and graduated Delaware Law School of Widener University with a Juris Doctorate degree. In the summer of 2002 Hal was appointed a judge of the New Jersey Superior Court. He was assigned to, and for the next 20 years served in the Family Division of that court, handling regularly all 11 types of Family Dockets in New Jersey primarily in Vicinage XV of the New Jersey Superior Court comprised of Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties.

For the last seven years of his judicial service Hal served as the Vicinage XV Family Presiding Judge, overseeing all the Family judges in those three counties. Judge Johnson also served on several New Jersey Family Court Committees, including the Family Practice Committee and the New Jersey Superior Court Judicial Education Committee. As to this latter Committee Judge Johnson served as Vice Chairperson for the last six years of his judgeship, being significantly involved in the education of New Jersey judges, especially Family judges throughout New Jersey. He was also involved in modifications and updates of the educational programs for New Jersey Judges, especially those programs teaching Family judges.
